Assumption of Risk

This Assumption of Risk Agreement ("Agreement") is accepted by each Participant (and by each Guardian for themselves and on behalf of their Minor) before booking any training, mentoring, class, or range session ("Activities") through the Firearm Mentorship Network platform (the "Platform").

1. Nature of the Activities

Firearms training involves the handling and discharge of firearms and ammunition, often at outdoor or indoor ranges, and may include classroom instruction, dry practice, live fire, movement, drawing from a holster, low-light shooting, and other drills. FMN does not provide, supervise, or attend the Activities; they are conducted by independent Instructors and Mentors ("Providers") at facilities FMN does not own or control.

2. Known and Unknown Risks

I understand that the Activities involve inherent risks, some of which cannot be eliminated even with proper care, including but not limited to:

• Gunshot wounds and death from intentional or unintentional discharge by me, the Provider, other participants, or other range users;
• Ricochets, fragments, and debris from bullets, targets, backstops, and steel;
• Firearm or ammunition malfunctions, including squib loads, out-of-battery discharges, case ruptures, and catastrophic failures;
• Hearing loss and tinnitus from impulse noise, even with protection;
• Eye injuries from ejected casings, gas, debris, and particulate;
• Burns from hot casings, barrels, and muzzle blast;
• Lead and chemical exposure from primers, projectiles, cleaning solvents, and range air;
• Slips, trips, falls, and musculoskeletal injuries from movement, uneven terrain, and recoil;
• Environmental hazards such as heat, cold, sun, lightning, insects, snakes, and poisonous plants at outdoor ranges;
• Medical events including cardiac events, fainting, or anxiety reactions;
• Travel risks going to and from training locations;
• Errors in judgment by me, the Provider, or others, including negligent instruction, supervision, or range management; and
• Third-party conduct, including the conduct of other range users not affiliated with my Training.

3. Voluntary Assumption

I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks of the Activities, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the Released Parties identified in the Participant Waiver and Release of Liability, to the fullest extent permitted by law. I accept personal responsibility for any resulting injury, death, or damage.

4. My Responsibilities

I understand that my own conduct greatly affects my safety and the safety of others. I agree to follow the universal firearm safety rules, the FMN Safety Policy, and all Provider, range, and RSO instructions; to wear eye and ear protection; to refrain from participating while impaired; to wash hands after handling firearms and ammunition and before eating; and to stop and withdraw if I feel unsafe or unable to continue.

5. Right to Withdraw

I may stop participating at any time. The Provider may remove me if they believe I present a safety risk.

6. Relationship to Other Documents

This Agreement supplements the Participant Waiver and Release of Liability, Booking Safety Acknowledgment, and any waiver required by a Provider or range. If any part of the Waiver is held unenforceable, this Agreement remains effective as an express assumption of risk to the extent allowed by law.

7. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, subject to the dispute-resolution provisions of the FMN Terms of Service.
