2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, referring URLs, and dates and times of access.
- Approximate location: Derived from IP address or the ZIP code you enter. We do not collect precise GPS location unless you choose to allow it in your browser for distance search.
- Cookies and similar technologies: See Section 6.
- Advertising measurement data: Impressions, clicks, and related events on sponsor banners, collected to provide aggregated analytics to Sponsors.
2.3 Information from others
- References you list, who may confirm your experience;
- Credentialing organizations or background-check vendors, if a Provider authorizes it;
- Other users (for example, a review, a report, or a Guardian adding a Minor); and
- Service providers such as analytics and security vendors.
2.4 Sensitive information
Some information may be considered "sensitive" under certain state laws, such as precise geolocation, account login credentials, criminal-history information from a background check, and information about a known child. We collect sensitive information only as needed to provide the Platform, with your consent where required, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you or for targeted advertising. Please do not include health information, Social Security numbers, firearm serial numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive details in profiles or messages.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage accounts, Guardian accounts, and Minor sub-profiles;
- Review Provider applications and display credential and optional background-check status;
- Operate the directory, distance search, training requests, messaging, scheduling, bookings, group classes, waitlists, attendance, reviews, saved searches, and notifications;
- Promote safety and integrity, including moderating messages and content, detecting fraud, spam, and abuse, investigating reports, and enforcing our Terms and Platform Policies;
- Communicate with you about your account, bookings, safety notices, policy changes, and (with your permission where required) news and updates;
- Display sponsor advertising and measure its performance on an aggregated basis;
- Analyze and improve the Platform;
- Maintain records of acceptance of terms, waivers, and consents; and
- Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and establish or defend legal claims.
Message moderation. Private messages are visible to the sender and recipients and may be scanned by automated filters and reviewed by authorized FMN personnel for safety, fraud prevention, policy enforcement, and legal compliance. By using messaging, you consent to this review.
4. How We Disclose Information
We disclose personal information only as described below:
- Other users. Provider profiles (name, photo, bio, credentials, service area, ratings, reviews, links, and background-check status if provided) are public. Participants' names and request details are shared with Providers they contact or who respond to their public requests. Booking details are shared between the Participant (or Guardian) and the Provider. Minors' information is shared only with the Provider of the Youth Class booked by the Guardian.
- Service providers. Vendors who host, secure, analyze, email, and support the Platform under contracts that restrict their use of the information (such as our website hosting provider, Vercel; our database and authentication provider, Supabase; our email delivery provider, Resend; and, when a background check is requested, a background-check provider).
- Sponsors. We give Sponsors aggregated or de-identified analytics, such as counts of impressions and clicks by placement, date, and general region. We do not give Sponsors your name, email, messages, or training history. If you click a sponsor ad, the sponsor's site will receive information from your browser under the sponsor's own privacy policy.
- Advertising and analytics partners. If we use third-party advertising or analytics cookies, those partners may collect information as described in Section 6.
- Legal and safety. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect the safety of any person, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the rights and property of FMN or others. Where lawful and safe, we will attempt to notify affected users of legal demands for their information.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy's protections.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell personal information for money. See Section 9 regarding "sales" and "sharing" for targeted advertising as those terms are defined under certain state laws.
5. Firearms-Related Information
We do not maintain a registry of firearms or firearm owners, and we do not ask users to list the firearms they own. We do not share users' firearms-training activity with government agencies except as required by valid legal process or to protect safety as described above.
6. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Technologies
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies:
| Type | Purpose | Can you opt out? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Login, security, fraud prevention, remembering preferences | No (required for the Platform to work) |
| Analytics | Understanding how the Platform is used (aggregated usage statistics) | Yes |
| Advertising measurement | Counting sponsor ad impressions and clicks; frequency capping | Yes, where required by law |
| Third-party advertising (if used) | Showing or measuring ads based on activity across sites | Yes |
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Global Privacy Control (GPC): We honor GPC signals as a valid request to opt out of sale/sharing and targeted advertising for the browser or device sending the signal (and, if you are logged in, your account). We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no common standard for them.
Sponsor impressions and clicks are counted by FMN itself (first-party measurement). We do not currently use third-party advertising networks or retargeting pixels. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy before doing so.
7. Minors and Guardian-Managed Profiles
7.1 No accounts for Minors. The Platform is intended for adults 18 and over. Individuals under 18 may not create accounts, log in, send messages, or have public profiles. The Platform is not directed to children under 13.
7.2 Guardian-provided information. A Guardian may create a sub-profile for their Minor child solely to book Youth Classes. All Minor information is provided by, and collected from, the Guardian—not from the Minor. Although we do not collect information directly from children, we handle Minor information in a manner consistent with the principles of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable state laws, including:
- Data minimization: We collect only what is reasonably necessary for safe participation (first name, last initial, age or date of birth, experience level, emergency contact, and Guardian-provided notes relevant to safety).
- Limited disclosure: Minor information is shared only with the Provider of the Youth Class the Guardian books and with service providers who help us operate the Platform.
- No advertising use: We do not use Minor information for advertising, profiling, or analytics shared with Sponsors, and we do not sell or share it for targeted advertising.
- No public display: Minor information is never shown on public profiles, directories, reviews, or class rosters visible to other participants.
- Guardian control: The Guardian may review, correct, or delete the Minor's information at any time in account settings or by emailing privacy@firearmmentorshipnetwork.com, and may withdraw consent to further collection or use.
- Retention: Minor information is deleted or de-identified within 12 months after the Minor's last booked class, unless needed longer for safety, legal, or dispute-resolution purposes (for example, attendance and signed-consent records).
7.3 If we learn a Minor has an account. If we learn that a person under 18 has created their own account, we will close it and delete associated information except as needed for safety or legal compliance. If you believe this has occurred, contact privacy@firearmmentorshipnetwork.com.
8. Data Retention and Security
We retain personal information as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain safety and enforcement records, and enforce agreements. Signed waivers, consents, safety acknowledgments, and attendance records are retained for the applicable statute-of-limitations period plus one year, and longer for records involving Minors, whose limitations periods may be extended until they reach the age of majority. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls, and role-based administrator permissions. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee security. We will notify affected individuals and regulators of data breaches as required by law, including the Alabama Data Breach Notification Act of 2018.
9. Your Privacy Rights
9.1 Rights for all users
All users can view and update most profile information in account settings, manage notification and marketing preferences, and request deletion of their account by contacting privacy@firearmmentorshipnetwork.com. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in each email.
9.2 Additional rights under U.S. state privacy laws
Depending on your state of residence (including, for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia, and other states as their laws take effect), and subject to applicable thresholds and exceptions, you may have the right to:
- Know/access the personal information we have about you and, in some states, the categories of third parties to which we disclosed it;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information;
- Portability — obtain a copy in a portable format;
- Opt out of the "sale" of personal information, "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, and certain profiling;
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information (California) or consent before it is processed (other states); and
- Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
Sale/Sharing disclosure. FMN does not sell personal information for money. We do not allow advertising partners to collect identifiers through cookies on the Platform. If we ever do, we will provide an opt-out, and we will honor Global Privacy Control signals as described above. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 (or under 18 where required by law).
How to submit a request. Email privacy@firearmmentorshipnetwork.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify your identity by matching information in your account, and we will respond within the time required by law (generally 45 days, extendable where permitted). You may use an authorized agent, who must provide proof of authorization.
Appeals. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing privacy@firearmmentorshipnetwork.com with the subject "Privacy Appeal." We will respond within the time required by law. If you are not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general.
9.3 California notice at collection
10. Third-Party Links and Outside Payment Pages
Provider profiles may link to outside payment pages, websites, and social media. Sponsor ads link to sponsor sites. Those sites are governed by their own privacy policies; FMN is not responsible for their practices. FMN does not receive or store your payment card details for Training payments.
11. Data Location
The Platform is intended for users in the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in-app notice before the change takes effect.
