Firearm Mentorship Network ("FMN") — https://firearmmentorshipnetwork.com
This agreement is between Firearm Mentorship Network ("FMN") and the individual or entity accepting this Agreement ("Mentor").
1. Purpose
This Mentor Agreement ("Agreement") governs your participation as a Mentor on the Firearm Mentorship Network platform (the "Platform"). A "Mentor" is an experienced, responsible firearms owner or shooter who offers guidance, encouragement, informal skill-building, range companionship, and knowledge-sharing to Participants, but who may not hold formal instructor certification. Mentors who hold instructor certifications and offer formal courses should also apply as Instructors under the Instructor Agreement.
This Agreement supplements the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Safety Policy, and Professional Code of Conduct, which are incorporated by reference. If there is a conflict concerning your activities as a Mentor, this Agreement controls.
2. Application and Approval
2.1 Application. You agree to submit truthful, complete, and current information, including your experience, any certifications or training completed, references, and any other information FMN requests.
2.2 Review. FMN administrators review applications at their discretion and may approve, deny, request more information, or revoke approval at any time. Approval is not an endorsement or certification by FMN.
2.3 Ongoing accuracy. You must promptly update your profile if any information changes, including any lapse in a certification, change in legal eligibility, or criminal charge or conviction that would affect your eligibility.
2.4 Optional background check. You may elect to provide or obtain a background check through a screening provider or process FMN approves. If you do, you authorize FMN to display the resulting status on your profile.
3. Eligibility Representations
You represent and warrant, and will continue to represent each time you use the Platform, that:
- You are at least 21 years old;
- You are not prohibited under federal, state, or local law from possessing, receiving, or transporting firearms or ammunition (including under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) and (n));
- You are not subject to any protective order, pending felony charge, or court order restricting your possession of firearms or contact with any person who may participate;
- You have not been convicted of, or pleaded guilty or no contest to, any offense involving violence, sexual misconduct, child abuse or endangerment, or the unlawful use of firearms;
- Every credential, reference, and experience claim you provide is true and not misleading; and
- You will comply with all applicable laws in every jurisdiction where you mentor.
4. Scope of Mentoring
4.1 What Mentors may do. Mentors may share experience, demonstrate safe handling, accompany Participants to lawful ranges, recommend resources, and encourage Participants to seek formal instruction.
4.2 What Mentors may not do. Unless you are also an approved Instructor and qualified for the subject, you may not:
- Represent yourself as a certified instructor or offer certificates of completion;
- Offer courses that satisfy state concealed-carry permit or other licensing training requirements;
- Provide legal advice regarding use of force, self-defense, carry, or transport laws (you may suggest consulting an attorney);
- Teach advanced or high-risk activities (e.g., force-on-force, low-light live fire, drawing from concealment with live ammunition, moving-and-shooting drills) unless you are qualified and the range permits it.
4.3 No firearm transfers. You will not sell, give, lend outside your direct supervision at a lawful range, or otherwise transfer any firearm or ammunition to a Participant through or as a result of the Platform, except in strict compliance with law. FMN does not facilitate firearm or ammunition transactions of any kind.
5. Safety
You agree to follow the FMN Safety Policy, all range rules and RSO commands, and the universal firearm safety rules; to conduct a safety briefing before any hands-on activity; to stop any activity that becomes unsafe; and to report any incident involving injury, negligent discharge, or threat to safety@firearmmentorshipnetwork.com within 24 hours.
6. Youth
You may participate in Youth Classes only if FMN has approved you for youth activities. You must communicate only through the Guardian account, never be alone with a Minor out of view of the Guardian or another adult, never transport a Minor, and never contact a Minor through any channel outside the Platform.
7. Independent Relationship; No Compensation from FMN
7.1 Independent status. You are an independent volunteer or independent business, not an employee, agent, partner, or joint venturer of FMN. FMN does not control the manner or means of your mentoring. You have no authority to bind FMN.
7.2 No compensation from FMN. FMN does not pay Mentors. If you choose to charge Participants, you set your own rates and collect payment outside the Platform through your own payment methods, and you are solely responsible for all taxes, licenses, and business registrations.
7.3 No benefits. You are not eligible for any employee benefits, workers' compensation, or unemployment insurance through FMN.
8. Insurance
FMN recommends that Mentors maintain liability insurance appropriate to their activities, such as a personal umbrella policy or firearms-specific liability coverage, with limits suitable for the activities they offer. Many homeowners' policies exclude business activities—confirm your coverage.
9. Conduct, Reviews, and Communications
You agree to comply with the Professional Code of Conduct, keep Training-related communications on the Platform where practical, respond to Participants professionally, and not solicit, write, or pay for reviews.
10. Release and Indemnification
10.1 Release. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release FMN and its members, managers, officers, employees, and agents from any claims arising from your mentoring activities or your interactions with Participants, Guardians, or others you meet through the Platform.
10.2 Indemnification. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless FMN and its members, managers, officers, employees, agents, and sponsors from and against all claims, losses, damages, liabilities, fines, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your mentoring activities; (b) any injury, death, or property damage connected with your activities; (c) your breach of this Agreement or any Platform Policy; (d) your violation of law; or (e) any misrepresentation of your credentials or eligibility.
11. Term and Termination
This Agreement begins when you accept it and continues until terminated. You may terminate by closing your Mentor profile; you remain responsible for any commitments already made to Participants (see Cancellation Policy). FMN may suspend or terminate your Mentor status immediately for any reason, including safety concerns, complaints, or a violation of this Agreement. Sections 7, 10, 12, and 13 survive termination.
12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute-resolution provisions of the Terms of Service apply to this Agreement.
13. General
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Alabama. FMN may amend this Agreement on 30 days' notice; continued participation after the effective date constitutes acceptance. You may not assign this Agreement. Electronic acceptance is binding.
